BAL Group and The Energy Efficient Lighting Company Deliver Breakthrough in LED Luminaire Design

BAL Group has successfully partnered with The Energy Efficient Lighting Company – an independent, UK-based manufacturer with over two decades of expertise in energy-efficient lighting – to develop a next-generation aluminium heat sink extrusion for modern LED luminaires.

Recognising the evolving demands of the lighting industry, The Energy Efficient Lighting Company sought to replace its legacy modular fittings with a streamlined, high-performance solution. Managing Director Steve Ponsford approached BAL Group for their proven expertise in aluminium extrusion and thermal management design.

The brief: to engineer a one-piece aluminium extrusion that would enhance thermal performance, simplify assembly, and elevate the aesthetic appeal of the product line. 

BAL Group responded with a bespoke, powder-coated aluminium extrusion casing that integrates LED boards within a custom-designed aluminium heat sink profile. The design maximises surface area for heat dissipation, leveraging aluminium’s natural conductivity to maintain optimal operating temperatures and extend product lifespan.

The collaborative development process spanned 18 months—from initial concept through prototyping, testing, and certification. The result is a robust, visually refined luminaire casing that meets the functional and aesthetic expectations of 21st-century lighting environments.
